Ged Proost (1999, Turnhout) is a visual artist primarily focused on creating sculptures, installations, and assemblages. In his work, he transforms everyday objects into artworks by integrating them with his own visual language, which mainly consists of abstract portraits, figures, and spontaneous compositions.
In 2022, he obtained his master’s degree in visual arts with a specialization in sculpture. Since then, he has been actively working as a sculptor, continuously developing his practice.
“Every object holds an aesthetic value that we often overlook simply because we are so familiar with it. It is the artist’s task to guide the viewer toward a new perception of our daily experiences.”
In addition to everyday objects, Ged draws inspiration from abstract art, tribal art, and various cultural forms of expression. His work reflects a deep exploration of the interplay between forms and styles, as he seeks new ways to merge and enhance them. Which forms have already been defined? Where can we introduce our own additions to create a new perception without altering the essence that is already present? These questions serve as a guiding thread throughout his practice, continuously fueling his search for new answers and insights.
